But, because of the popularity of the system, which focuses on training the mind and body to work together to achieve the goal of a better balanced body and overall fitness, Lindsay has set up her membership website, www.myexercisestudio.com
For a monthly fee of £9.99, members can take part in streamed pilates classes as often as required. All of the classes are frequently updated and are full screen DVD quality for both men and women of all ages and fitness abilities, from complete beginner to the more advanced exerciser.
The website allows people to take part in a range of classes whenever they want and wherever they are in the world.
Lindsay hopes that in the next two years her new venture, which she believes is the first of its kind in the UK, will generate five new jobs in both office-based roles and as exercise instructors.
Lindsay took up the exercise six years ago and was so impressed with the results the exercises had on her sporting injuries and lower back pain that she gave up a successful career as a senior manager with a public company in Leeds to train as a professional pilates instructor.
She said: "Although we do advise that you consult a doctor before starting a programme like this, we do offer full advice and guidelines to all of our members."
