4 Plan time for a festive exercise routine and choose something you love doing, such as dancing, cycling or playing football in the park with the kids, advises pilates instructor Lindsay Jewison. She offers this five-minute daily exercise
to tone up the waist.
Sit on the floor with legs out in front of you. Press away the heels and lengthen the body by lifting through the crown of the head.
Put your hands on your shoulders with elbows out to the side, pull tummy in and, as you breathe in, twist from the waist to the right, turning your head to look over your right shoulder.
Turn your head back to the centre, then on the next inhalation, twist to the left and look over your left shoulder before returning to centre.
“This exercise tones the waist and improves posture, making us look slimmer,” adds Lindsay.
